The Wooden Elegance kitchen

Scenically located outside Stockholm, Isabella D’Amore and her husband have designed a soothing home bathing in tranquility. A warm palette sets the tone, best distinguished by its dark brown infusions and solid oak, two features which also define their kitchen space.

When Isabella and her husband decided to renovate their home, one thing was certain: A soft, warm color palette should characterize each room, with continuously contrasting elements – especially in the kitchen. For Isabella, who also served as project leader for the entire renovation, this meant stepping out of her comfort zone.

The built-in wine rack with glass holders is both visually appealing and practical when serving the guests.

The drawers in the kitchen island are lined with stone, with solid wood drawers in the same shade as the rest of the kitchen.

– I have a strong penchant for the muted and timeless aesthetic. I like using materials and colors which suit almost any detail or decor. This time, however, I got really fixated with brown and had to rethink my regular process, says Isabella.

Naturally, identifying the right tone of brown became the very first step of the kitchen renovation. To strengthen the rustic feel, Isabella searched for a warm hue, ending up with a vibrant pick; The Dark brown stain from Nordiska Kök. In a colder light it appears dark, while perceived as more tempered in warm daylight, which Isabella thinks gives the kitchen yet another dimension.

The floor also matches the tones of the kitchen, creating a cohesive and sophisticated ambiance.

For Isabella and her husband, it was important to build a kitchen which resonated with their lifestyle and preferences. Read more about how to order a kitchen from Nordiska Kök.

The worktop, the coated cabinets, the stain and built-in wine section were uncompromisable elements for us. Marcus, our designer at Nordiska Kök, was extremely attentive and professional. He listened carefully and really made our kitchen dreams come true.

The wine bar with a mirror becomes a beautiful detail in the kitchen.

The kitchen island is entirely clad in the ceramic stone Capraia. The drawers are also covered in the stone, which was one of Isabella's must-haves in the kitchen.

The generous kitchen island is a family favorite. Here, plenty of cooking and storage space is combined with a designated wine section. Additionally, the kitchen island becomes an energetic social hub. The couple opted for a ceramic top, due to its durable finish and naturally contrasting design, neatly resonating with the kitchen’s curated essence.

– The worktop is imported from Italy. I first got introduced to it through Pinterest, when I was looking for interior inspiration. I saved it down immediately, knowing that it would come in handy for future projects, says Isabella.

The custom-built kitchen in dark brown oak cleverly conceals smart features such as a built-in oven and microwave, as well as a coffee station. By using a smart pocket door solution, the doors can be kept either open or closed, depending on the desired look in the kitchen.

Besides the kitchen island, the pocket door-solution is another much-loved element for the family. Behind its sleek doors you find both micro oven and stove, elegantly hidden to better resonate with the overall kitchen design. There is also a hidden coffee station, which you can easily open up or keep closed depending on preference.

With a smart pocket door solution where the door elegantly slides in along the side, the coffee station can be either visible or concealed depending on preference.

When the door is kept closed, the kitchen presents a more cohesive and clean impression.
