The Colourful Design kitchen

In the villa just outside Oslo, Elisabeth and her family have created a personal home where colours in pink and green take the lead. The contrasts between materials and colours create a balance to feel at home in, and the oak kitchen from Nordiska Kök matches with a beautiful pink Portuguese marble.

Tip for the interested – Elisabeth's beautiful home is now for sale. Read more about the sale at Sem & Johnsen.

The kitchen is in light brown oak with prominent frames and matched with beautiful brass details.

The beautiful kitchen island is made of Portuguese marble with a warm apricot pink tone and distinct veins. The kitchen lamp is handmade in Morocco.

When Elisabeth and her husband Petter were planning for the kitchen, it was important to find a combination that felt right in functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability. Petter is a chef and kitchen manager at Holzweiler Platz in Oslo, and Elisabeth has previously been a restaurant manager, but today she is an entrepreneur in the health food industry, also has a great passion for cooking. The kitchen therefore needed to feel inspiring without compromising on practical solutions.

'The choice of Nordiska Kök was simple for several reasons. Compared to other suppliers, Nordiska Kök had exactly the style I wanted and the best balance between price and quality. When I received the first sketches based on my ideas, it felt like they had read my thoughts – it felt just right. I also appreciated the good advice and the different alternatives they presented within our budget framework. It felt like a perfect combination of value and everyday luxury.'

The choice fell on oak kitchen cabinets that would both feel warm and inviting. Here, cookbooks and ceramics are mixed on the shelves, and the light green walls are adorned with colourful artworks. The eye quickly catches a beautiful piece clad in pink marble standing in the middle of the room, a material that also has a special place in Elisabeth's heart.

The beautiful chairs are vintage finds, purchased at Lauritz and reupholstered in leopard-patterned linen from Schumacher.

The green shade creates a sense of calm and serves as a backdrop to the lively and colorful paintings. The pink sofa is custom-made with fabric from Manuel Laraga, and the paintings are by the artist KC Tidemand.

'The countertop of Portuguese pink marble is simply stunningly beautiful, and with Portugal as our second home, it means a little extra to us, Elisabeth explains.'

The warm oak complements the vibrant green walls. The brass fixtures coordinate with the beautiful and well-crafted faucet.

When it comes to personal interior design, Elisabeth often finds inspiration in authentic architecture from different parts of the world, ranging from colourful Portuguese tiles and Moroccan decorations to traditional Norwegian rose painting.

It can certainly be colorful and playful when Elisabeth decorates.

Even the hallway has its own personal expression with apricot-colored walls and the painted moldings and ceiling.

'There is something about craftsmanship, the use of genuine materials, and the details that express a genuine care for the aesthetic that I am really drawn to. If it is also colourful and playful, it is a bonus.'

The tiles in the bathroom are from Morocco and the furnishings/bench are from Mexico.

Elisabeth's inspiration from authentic architecture from various parts of the world is clearly visible in every room of the house, including the bathroom.

Also the bedroom is painted in a pale pink color and harmonizes with the rest of the house.

For those who can't get enough, the house is currently for sale. Read more about the sale at Sem & Johnsen.
