The Wooden Design kitchen

In beautiful Onsala, just outside Gothenburg, Frida Aalvik and her family have recently moved into their newly built, architect-designed house, where the bespoke kitchen in warm oak has made its mark on the rest of the home's interior.

The kitchen is stained in our reddish-brown shade, providing a warm tone that perfectly complements the concrete floor and the beautiful countertop from Bricmate. Bar stools from Folkhemmet.

In February 2024, Frida, together with her husband Emil, their son Melker, and their dog Vilda, moved into the newly built house. The interior is characterised by a muted colour palette and natural material choices, and the bespoke kitchen is not only the heart of the house but also what the couple has based the rest of the house's design and decor on.

When we started to build the house, we said we wanted to stick to natural materials and a muted and harmonious colour scheme. Everything in the house is gray like the concrete floor, black details, and dark-stained oak. We actually used the kitchen as our inspiration and chose all the colours based on that.

Straight, modern lines harmonize with classic details in the beautiful wooden kitchen.

Open shelves add character and offer the opportunity for personal styling.

The kitchen is both functional and beautiful, with storage combined with open shelves to create a lovely balance. The lamp is from New Works, and the coffee machine is from Smeg.

Frida works with home textiles and has a great interest in interior design. Therefore, it was important for Frida that the kitchen not only focused on function but also had a well-thought-out design. The spacious kitchen has elegant details such as a classic display cabinet filled with beautiful glassware and open shelves where ceramics and vases add a personal touch.

The kitchen's countertop comes from Bricmate and, thanks to the granite ceramic, provides both a beautiful, light tone and a durable and resistant surface.

The reddish-brown tone of the oak kitchen contrasts in an intriguing manner with the cold concrete floor, while the black details such as the fixtures and lighting harmonize and unify the various elements into a beautiful whole.

We chose Nordiska Kök because I have seen their kitchens and think they are incredibly good at creating beautiful drawings based on what your requests. We made all the choices together through discussion. I sent some inspirational pictures, and then Caroline, our kitchen designer from Nordiska Kök, came up with suggestions that felt just right. It was never difficult.

The countertop is from Bricmate. The hob is from Siemens.

The beautiful open shelves provide an opportunity for personal styling and create an airy feeling in the kitchen.

The reddish-brown tone of the oak kitchen in contrast with the cold concrete floor creates an exciting contrast, while the black details, such as the fittings and lighting, tie the various elements together and create a beautiful whole. Here, the kitchen invites and opens up for the family to be together, a place where they can enjoy their new home.

– The best thing about the kitchen is that it is incredibly spacious and very beautiful. I think the whole kitchen is a nice interior detail, and it sets the tone for the rest of the house, Frida says.

Generous workspace and durable countertop, perfect for all the family's needs.

Beautiful details that elevate the overall feel of the kitchen, such as the built-in sink next to the hob.

The fridge and freezer are integrated and concealed behind the beautiful cabinet doors.
