Designed and crafted by Nordiska Kök, the pool house kitchen has been tailor-made down to the smallest detail to complement the architecture of the pool house.

The architect-designed pool house has been conceived as a tranquil retreat surrounded by nature – a place designed as much for relaxation and recovery as for social gatherings.

The pool house is defined by clean lines, natural materials and a strong connection to its surroundings, bringing to mind the principles of the Case Study House movement. Large glazed openings frame the landscape and blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors. Nestled among the forest and overlooking the sea, it is a place created for both relaxation and social outdoor living.

The kitchen from Nordiska Kök follows the same architectural language, becoming a natural extension of the building itself. Crafted from natural materials and characterised by clean lines and a calm, understated expression, the kitchen reflects both the architecture and the surrounding landscape. At the same time, it has been designed as a social hub where cooking and gathering take centre stage.

From the natural stone flooring to the warm oak cabinetry and stainless steel details, the rugged beauty of nature is present throughout the project.

With the sea and forest just beyond, both the pool house and the kitchen draw their character from the surrounding landscape – focusing on natural materials and timeless design.

Solid oak drawers with custom-made cutlery inserts in the kitchen, where the beautiful grain of the wood is clearly visible, adding warmth, depth and character to the kitchen’s otherwise pared-back design.

Natural materials remain at the heart of the design, shaping everything from architectural details to material selections. Warm oak, natural stone and stainless steel come together in a balanced composition, where contrasting materials interact in harmony. The nature-inspired palette enhances the sense of simplicity and calm, while adding warmth and depth to the space.

The kitchen’s minimalist design allows the materials to speak for themselves. The expressive grain of the oak adds life and character, while stainless steel details create an elegant contrast against the warmth of the wood.

The infinity pool creates the illusion of its water surface merging seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Through the use of natural stone, the water takes on a tone that harmonises beautifully with its coastal setting.

Extending from the kitchen, the pergola creates a gentle transition between the interior, the outdoor dining area and the pool. Together with the large sliding glass doors, it strengthens the connection between indoors and outdoors, making nature an integral part of the experience.

With its reflective surface, the stainless steel worktop subtly references both the sea and the pool, capturing changing light throughout the day and creating an ever-shifting expression.

The pergola not only provides cooling shade for outdoor dining, but also acts as a natural link between the kitchen, terrace and pool area.

Along one end wall, integrated cabinetry houses storage, extending all the way to the 3.5-metre-high ceiling. The solution makes full use of the room’s generous proportions while creating a calm architectural expression where functionality and aesthetics work seamlessly together.

Open floating shelves provide easily accessible storage while contributing to the kitchen’s light and airy appearance. Learn more about open storage.

The built-in chimney and outdoor BBQ area are finished in slate, reinforcing the project's natural material palette.

The material palette is intentionally pared back, allowing tactile natural materials to take centre stage.

Arranged along a single wall, the kitchen combines generous workspace with social functionality. Open shelving creates a sense of openness, while base cabinets provide ample storage for cooking essentials. An integrated bar area forms a natural gathering point and further enhances the kitchen’s social character.

The stainless steel worktop and matching splashback are both practical and easy to maintain. At the same time, their reflective surfaces capture natural light and give the kitchen a constantly changing expression – a subtle reference to the sea and pool beyond.

The reflective stainless steel creates a subtle visual effect and contrasts beautifully with the warmth of the oak. See more of stainless steel kitchens.

The architect-designed pool house is a beautiful and tranquil retreat immersed in nature.

A place where architecture, nature and timeless design come together in perfect balance, the kitchen plays a central role in shaping the experience. Designed to complement both the building and its surroundings, it becomes a natural gathering place at the heart of this serene coastal oasis.
