On a quiet street in Norrlandet, just outside Gävle, along the coastline of eastern Sweden, Anna and Andreas live with their two daughters. The move here wasn’t really planned. But when they stumbled upon the house, it felt instantly right.

– We wanted to give our children a childhood similar to our own – in a smaller town, close to nature, family and the sea, in a house with character and potential. When we found this place in Norrlandet, the decision came quickly – but felt completely natural, says Anna.

The kitchen feels warm and inviting.

The beautiful yellow villa is located in Norrlandet, a charming coastal area in Gävle, Sweden, right by the sea.

The solid oak country kitchen with marble worktop is timeless, functional, and beautiful.

For Anna – a passionate advocate of seasonal, plant-forward cooking and the food creator behind the popular Instagram account @dininganna – the kitchen holds a central place in both her home and her life.

– I spend much of my day in the kitchen, and I absorb my surroundings with all my senses. It needs to function well, of course, but it also has to feel harmonious and beautiful, she says.

When it was time to renovate the kitchen, the choice fell naturally on Nordiska Kök – a decision that was based both on aesthetics and the possibility of getting a completely customised design.

The result is a solid oak country kitchen, blending timeless elegance with traditional charm, and a subtle modern touch. Every detail and the choice of materials was carefully considered to create a cohesive whole that reflects both the home’s classic architecture and the family’s warm, natural aesthetic.

Soft, muted tones and elegant details come together in the kitchen to create a harmonious whole. Oven by Bertazzoni.

– I wanted something classic and timeless, but not too old-fashioned. A bit rustic, but without being overly romantic, Anna explains.

– I had seen so many beautiful kitchens by Nordiska Kök on Instagram, and once we decided to renovate, it felt like the perfect match. They could also work with the unique angles and dimensions of an old house, which was a big plus – there were no limitations, says Anna.

Cabinets and drawers in solid oak blend beautifully with beadboard, marble, and classic hardware.

The traditional country kitchen is beautifully complemented by modern interior accents – such as the blue chairs from HAY.

A worktop and backsplash in Carrara marble, classic kitchen handles, and a wall-mounted cabinet with antique glass, enhance the traditional charm. At the same time, contemporary design accents bring a balanced, updated feel to the space.

– With the book, I want to inspire a simpler and more careful way of cooking, where the focus is on seasonal ingredients, says Anna.

A beautifully arranged plate of seasonal vegetables captures the essence of simple food made with intention and care.
