The Nordiska Kök Guide to Österlen – Our 5 Best Tips
For those who’ve visited Österlen during the summer months, it’s easy to see why many consider it Sweden’s ultimate summer paradise. And if you haven’t been yet, you’re in for a treat. We’ve gathered some of our favourite places and experiences to help you make the most of your visit. From stunning beaches to unforgettable gastronomic spots – this is Nordiska Kök’s guide to Österlen.
1. Örum 119 – A must for pizza lovers in Österlen
At Örum 119 just outside Löderup, you’ll find what we believe might be the world’s best pizzas. We tried a pizza that tasted like pure Swedish summer magic — topped with seasonal nettle cream, green asparagus, spring onion gremolata, fresh spring onions, fennel pollen, Ruskarum chicken, and creamy buffalo mozzarella. We’re still dreaming about it!

3. Pastafabriken – Taste Italy in the heart of Österlen
Producing their own pasta and using only fresh, high-quality ingredients, Pastafabriken truly embodies the art of Italian cuisine – the perfect choice for anyone craving authentic Italian food. Whether you’re stopping by for a lovely lunch or grabbing takeaway on the go, Pastafabriken has you covered. In the evening, the restaurant offers a more extensive à la carte menu, paired with carefully selected wines to complement your delicious meal.

4. Sandhammaren – The jewel of Sweden’s beaches
In our opinion, Sandhammaren deserves to be officially named Sweden’s most beautiful beach. Stretching for several kilometers, it boasts chalk-white, fine-grained sand as far as the eye can see. The beach is so vast that you’ll never feel crowded — even during the high season. Just don’t forget to bring sunscreen!
5. Ale Stenar – For the history enthusiasts
Ale stenar is a mythical historical landmark, surrounded by as many theories about its origins as there are stones. Standing alone here early in the morning, gazing out over the sea, is a truly special experience. During the day, however, the site fills up with crowds of tourists—so we recommend starting your day here to enjoy it in peace.
